What happens if I need to arrange a MIAM?

Fill out the form in the usual way here.Make sure you complete the when is the best time to call you box and provide a contact number and email address. Our mediation co-ordinators will be in contact with you by phone or email to arrange the online MIAM. We will send you a list of hints and tips, so you are ready for the meeting. Can somebody else be present during the MIAM?

Yes, we allow people to invite another adult for support at the MIAM which is the first meeting for you on your own. In the meeting we will ask you to introduce them and ensure we are aware of everyone who is present. In the mediation no one else should be in the room. Children should not be present or be able to overhear the discussion.

How will mediation work?

This will be very similar to a face to face meeting except that you will be in your home or other private space and the other person with be in theirs . Our mediator will conduct the meeting in the same way. You will be expected to keep to the terms and conditions for online mediation, and you will both complete the ‘agreement to mediate’ which sets out the rules for mediation.

Do I have to see the other person when I have an online mediation?

Not necessarily. The on line platform we are using can hold two calls at the same time. This means that the mediator can talk to you and the other person together or completely separately during the same meeting.

I want to mediate about finances

The mediator will ask that you send in all the disclosure of your financial situation before the mediation takes place and this will be shared within the mediation meeting.
