Recognising unconscious bias is a pivotal step on the equity, diversity and inclusion journey.
The aim of this online session is to provide an engaging and entertaining overview of diversity, equity and inclusion, unconscious bias and what each of us can do to boost inclusion.

MiX Diversity run interactive sessions, including discussion, exercises, polls and Q&A. There will be opportunities for personal reflection and MiX will share stories and case studies

A practical session designed and delivered to explore the concept of inclusion with a focus on equipping learners with practical tools and an insight into how unconscious bias impacts on everyday interactions and decisions.

  • Why DEI matters – Why inclusion is good for us personally, good for our clients and good for business
  • The Equality Act 2010
  • Inclusive language
  • Barriers to inclusion – Unconscious bias – what is it and why do we have it?
  • Impact – How does unconscious bias impact our work with clients?
  • Tools and actions – What actions we can take to outsmart bias including ‘apply the brain brakes’ and ‘spin it to test it’

Whitney is a warm, highly relational person and brings skills of cross-cultural lecturing at university level, writing for a national magazine and motivating people to achieve higher standards of excellence through diverse and inclusive thinking. Whitney’s education background includes a double BA in political science and French from Wake Forest University [USA], a Master’s in Theology of Transformation from London School of Theology and recently a certificate in Diversity and Inclusion from Cornell University [USA]. Whitney has been a mentor for at-risk children and young people in her community in both paid and voluntary roles.
