Family Matters will host ‘The Voice of the Child in Court’ lecture at Doncaster’s prestigious Cast Theatre on Thursday 5th March.
The lecture, which is aimed at professions working with separated families, will focus on the work being done by the ‘Listening to Children Matters’ project (L2C). The project, which was developed by Family Matters, helps separated parents in Doncaster and surrounding areas to reduce conflict and hear to views of their children. Such is the success of the L2C project, that funding has been extended for a further six months.
The lecture is supported by the Magistrate and County Courts and will be attended by representatives from the Department for Work and Pensions and The Ministry of Justice. Justice Minister, Simon Hughes has described L2C as ‘trailblazing’ and ‘making a real difference’.
Family Matters’ director Juliette Dalrymple says “We are delighted to be hosting this lecture, which is the third in a series of lectures in memory of our dear friend, colleague and mediator, Judy Wakefield. The lecture will discuss the involvement of children in any court process; a subject highly relevant to family lawyers, CAFCASS practitioners and mediators, both politically and practically.”
All lecture proceeds will be donated to Barnsley Hospice. You can also donate at https://www.justgiving.com/FamilyMattersMediate/
