Lorraine qualified as a mediator with Family Matters (FMM) starting in 2020. She completed her portfolio successfully and was awarded full accreditation (FMCA) in June 2023. Since that time, she has worked hard to develop her mediation practice experience and knowledge.
Lorraine has now taken the next step in her professional development and has qualified as a professional practice consultant (PPC). A PPC supports experienced and newly trained mediators in their professional development. Only mediators with sufficient experience and knowledge can undertake the training and qualify as a PPC.
Lorraine has offered her skills and knowledge freely and generously within Family Matters, which is a training and mediation practice. To date she has worked with three trainee mediators in the practice and has co-worked with and supported them in developing their own mediation knowledge and understanding.
When asked why she wanted to be a PPC, Lorraine said:
“I applied for the training because I wanted to be able to support trainee mediators. Following completion of the course, I have been inspired. Now, I want to support both trainee mediators and newly accredited mediators to progress in their careers and help them develop a clear structure for successfully completing their portfolios and becoming Family Mediation Council Accredited (FMCA).
Needless to say, I am thrilled to be a PPC, and I would like to make a difference to new mediators coming into the profession and help them feel less alone and less daunted by the whole process”.
Juliette Dalrymple, director at Family Matters said:
“I’m very confident Lorraine will make an excellent PPC. She’s committed to developing her mediation knowledge and practice and supporting newly trained mediators in their journey to accreditation.”
Juliette continues:
“Family Matters has four PPCs already. The fact that Lorraine makes five is testament to the culture of high-quality mediation and professional development of the mediators who work within the practice. It means that the practice can widen its training and supervision opportunities. However the final word should be about Lorraine. Congratulations on your dedication and commitment to mediation. I am delighted that you have become a professional practice consultant.”
