The Education Policy Institute has published its second report on children and young people’s mental health. The report considers what progress has been made since the government’s publication of its strategy in dealing with mental health care for children and young people – Future in Mind
The research found that:
- 83% of trusts had found difficulties in recruiting – which lead to
- 82% increase in spending on temporary staff.
- Only 18 (15%) of the 122 published local transformation plans were good and 85% needed improvement.
- The allocated £119 million in 2016/2017 had not been ring fenced for spending on children and young people’s mental health.

Family Matters’ director and family mediator, Juliette Dalrymple, says:
“Divorce is one of the many stressors children have to manage. Mediation can help parents to manage this process and, if child consultation is part of the mediation process, gives their children the opportunity to be heard.”
