Rachel and Isobel were married in 2014 following a long period of living together. They have two children together and have a house which they purchased together twenty years ago. They both have pensions and have savings. Rachel has moved out of the family house. They have decided to end their relationship as Rachel, an American citizen wants to return to live in the USA. She would like to take the children.
Rachel and Isobel also want to talk about the financial arrangements. They both had solicitors who they talked to between the mediation meetings.
In mediation Rachel and Isobel were able to talk about their hopes for the children and realised the children are happy settled and doing well at school. And that they both want the children to remain in the UK but spend the long holidays in the USA.
They agreed the arrangements for the family house and decided to divide their savings. As Rachel has a bigger pension they agreed some would be paid to Isobel. As this needs a court order they decided to take the documentation from the mediation to a solicitor.
