Joe and Amy came to mediation to agree the arrangements about finances following their decision to separate. They each had teachers’ pensions and needed to agree the arrangements about the family house.
They took part in three online mediation meetings. The meetings were in shuttle, which means each person was in a separate online meeting room and the mediator moved between them. The financial information was uploaded to a secure site and shared digitally.
Agreement was reached and a memorandum of understanding and open financial statement prepared.
Joe gave the following feedback:
You asked about my experiences in mediation. Personally, I appreciated the way you facilitated things in such a way that, as far as possible, emotional lids remained on. The shuttle experience seemed to make the whole process far less confrontational between me and A and helped put the focus on moving forwards. I don’t really have any mega-constructive feedback, other than that the process worked well for me, and you very effectively walked both of us through what needed addressing without letting emotion cloud the process. Thank you.

I felt much more confident in shuttle mediation and the mediator gave me jobs to do when she was out of the room. This meant I was able to think about the ideas we were discussing and did not get stressed.
