There is Legal Aid for coming to mediation and Family Matters will provide legally aided mediation if you are eligible.
If you are eligible for legally aided mediation the Legal Aid Agency will pay for:
- Your individual MIAM meeting
- All your mediation sessions
- Some legal advice in support of mediation
- The cost of a solicitor writing up an agreed order to make it legally binding.

If you are getting legal aid for mediation
People need to access legal advice when they are coming to mediation. The Legal Aid Agency will pay for you to be able to access some advice from a solicitor’s practice offering legal aid. The cost of writing up agreed court orders will also be covered.
To get this advice you must have taken part in a mediation meeting and to have another arranged. After your first mediation we will send you a signed form that you can take to a solicitor offering legal aid.
