The summer holiday season has brought a lot of change to one of the region’s leading family mediation companies, Family Matters Mediation, and it’s full steam ahead with new directors, staff and linguists!
Former managing director, Stan Angel, has stepped down from this role, and is now a director of the company, supporting it with his wealth of mediation expertise and experience on a consultancy basis.
Juliette takes over as managing director
Juliette Dalrymple, a director of Family Matters for sixteeen years, has now taken over the role of managing director. A graduate in psychology and with post graduate qualifications in social sciences and counselling, Juliette has extensive experience in a number of fields, including teaching and the probation service. She is a highly trained and experienced family and financial mediator, child consultant and professional practice consultant.
Family Matters trained mediator Alison is new director
Nurturing its home grown talent, Family Matters has now appointed Alison Mcillroy as one of its directors. Alison is a law graduate who qualified as a solicitor in 1996 and specialised in family law, including child matters and financial issues. She trained as a mediator with Family Matters, worked on the successful Listening to Children Matters project, and is in the process of qualifying as a professional practice consultant.
Linguist qualifies as mediator
More success comes as Family Matters’ trainee, Jen Rumble, has completed her accreditation and is now a Family Mediation Council Accredited (FMCA) mediator. This means she is able to mediate cases where people are legally aided. The new FMCA status was introduced in January 2016 and is the benchmark for professional qualification for all mediators. Jen speaks a number of languages including Russian and Polish and will be an asset to the mediation community.
Audit praises Family Matters
Finally, Family Matters passed a recent legal aid audit (rather like Ofsted for mediation companies) with flying colours. The auditor commented positively on the way Family Matters has developed methods of explaining mediation to its clients and carrying out risk assessment.
Juliette says “It really is a busy time at the moment. Enquiries in July indicate that people are increasingly turning to mediation as a means of reaching agreement following their decision to separate or divorce, and more and more people are being referred to us by the courts. Our team is stronger than ever and we are very excited about the recent changes and the ways in which they can enhance the mediation experience for our clients and the service we offer.”
