To celebrate the end of its highly successful project, Listening to Children Matters (L2C), Family Matters will hold an event at the Regent Hotel in Doncaster on Wednesday 23rd September.
The event, which will start at 4.30pm, will bring together a panel of high profile specialists who been involved in the project in some way – from those recommending families to it, to the specialists who delivered it.
Doncaster Central MP and shadow Chief Whip, Rosie Winterton will introduce the event, with opening remarks provided by project supporter, District Judge Rodgers – who has said that the project has provided a valuable resource for children and separated parents in Doncaster.
Family Matters mediators, Jane Knight and Alison McIlroy, who have been heavily involved in the project, will give and overview of how it has helped over 150 children and their parents – some who have been in conflict for many years – to reach agreement, and the valuable lessons that have been learnt.
Attendees will have the chance to discuss matters with the panel, which will include solicitor and senior collaborator, Alison Kitchman; Anne Chester Walsh of Doncaster Children’s Services Trust; CAFCASS senior service manager for Work to First Hearing, Rachel Holmes, and Family Matters’ directors Juliette Dalrymple and Stan Angel – who designed the project.
Juliette says, “The project, which was funded by the Department for Work and Pensions, has been a huge success and we are delighted to be ending it with this exciting event. There is no charge to attend the event, but we would very much like attendees to make a donation that will go to Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice.”
