The Family Mediation Training Programme, run in collaboration by Family Matters Mediation, and Lesley Allport Dispute Resolution (LADR) is fully approved by the College of Mediators and the Family Mediation Council. Dr Lesley Allport is a leading family mediator and trainer, Juliette Dalrymple is an experienced mediator and trainer and is an assessor for the Family Mediation Council for FMCA accreditation.
The first two modules cover the process and principles of mediation. Modules two and three look at the impact of separation and divorce on children and families; the voice of children in family mediation; exploring the suitability of mediation (MIAMs meetings) including risk assessment and the understanding of safeguarding and eligibility for public funding; the financial disclosure process and the legal framework for separating and divorcing couples.
The training incorporates a number of approaches including trainer input, skills development, group exercises, plenary discussion and written assignments. Participants are assessed on the knowledge and skills they develop during the programme and through assessment of written work. The course consists of the following key components:
The training takes place at a central location in the North of England. Doncaster is easily accessible by rail and road.
